But it’s not a Memory BOY. :freak:
April 13, 2009 at 5:18 pm #95600McHavenModeratorSo if this almost “flagship” effect of EHX is getting shrunk, and the big box discontinued, I can only guess that all other big boxes will be discontinued as well.

April 13, 2009 at 8:01 pm #95606DreamhunterMemberI already own the new small version! Bought it second hand some months ago from a friend. I’m still wondering if the circuit/chip is exactly the same, i will have to compare it with a big box memory man that a friend has and see if the sound is the same!

April 14, 2009 at 10:17 pm #95656visualdistortionMemberHi all, this is a little story of nothing about me and The Deluxe Memory Man
I always wanted to get the original Deluxe Memory Man but it was so expensive for me. The Deluxe Memory Man was like a dream: big box, big knobs and big sound… for the biggest guitarist.
The first time that I’ve really heard it (but principaly understand it) was during the french tour of Deep Purple. Steve Morse played an amazing strange/experimental solo with harmonic and feedback that beated my heart faster… so perfect. After search I’ve finded the way for make this sound 2 DMM in series. The second revelation was the song Club Foot by Kasabian… The song begin with “bell”, like Sonic Youth style, with an incredible depth in space. The sound is made with faster picking after the guitar bridge and of course with the Deluxe Memory Man. Listen to the song and immerse yourself in it.
Others incredible exemple that you can hear, are on U2 records or Dinosaur Jr records. The Edge, U2 guitarist, has played 2 Deluxe Memory Man since 25 years, and love make great stuff with it again in this time. Listen it, it’s an amazing process to get this sound
A little list of Deluxe Memory Man player’s
Quote:chase harris of the meeting places
eric johnson
geordie walker of killing joke
j. mascis of Dinosaur Jr.
jeff trott with Sheryl Crow
kristin hersh of throwing muses
stewart braithwaite of mogwai
the edge of u2I’m very sad because I’ve dreamed to get the original Deluxe Memory Man, with the famous “Big” Electro Harmonix enclosure, one day. And my expectations are vanish.
But sound is sound so I’m sure that the new box will live up to its big sister and perhaps redifine the sound of music again and again.Electro Harmonix, every time, has rocked the world… so continue!
PS: Excuse of my bad american language, I try to make it perfect but it’s hard
PSS: A strange version of the Deluxe Memory Man… with purple letters

PPSS: Last message… lot of peoples love take 2 Deluxe Memory Man on their pedalboards, after The Edge, Steve Morse or J. Mascis now Cooks of the Artic Monkeys

April 15, 2009 at 6:45 am #95679CostchParticipantHey EHX, why don’t you make the XO and nano pedals out of sheet metal and tolex too so they loook like the originals, only smaller? There’s a grand ol’ idea.
