Sorry mate but this belongs in the lounge.

My usual mantra, despite my EHX preferences, is that you can make any piece of gear sound good if tweaked enough in the right context.

But the BOSS CS-3 was a pedal I didn’t really get along with. I tried, but it just didn’t do what I wanted. I do like a lot of BOSS pedals, just not that one.

The DynaComp is a classic. Not the most subtle compressor, but guitarits like Andy Summers and Edge made it sound great.

Why not a Soul Preacher, White Finger, or Black Finger?

you could get shot… but it’s a silly shot because boss make some damn fine products.

well, if you were after a Stryper sound then it would have been perfect.

The DS-2 have been around since ’87 so I suppose that sound was pretty popular back then…… but the OD-3 is a great sounding overdive… and I’m a big fan of the HM-2, don’t let the name fool you it’s a great Distortion/fuzz, the FZ-2/FZ-3 and SD-1 are cool too. Like all companies they’ve made great and not so great stuff, but they didn’t get where they are today by continually putting out rubbish and their DD series delays are pretty much the most popular compact digital delays ever, for good reason imo.

I prefer the Pulsar to the TR-2 myself, the TR-2 sounds good but I like the shaping on the pulsar, it’s much more fun… and the pulsar is a fair bit cheaper too… I think it’s one of the real bargains in the EHX range, it’s a brilliant pedal for the money.

If you go with the MXR comp you may as well get the super comp instead. Also, get an older version of whichever you get…and that it has the CA3080 chip in it. The dyna and super have the same circuit but the super has an attack knob.
