ok so i got the small clone and the nano clone. i knew before i purchased the nano clone that it wasent as good as the small clone, but i got to have all EHX i can get, and i got it for a good price.
well i went to put the nano in “the cabinet” for my collection and future use, when i decided to open it up and take out any battery that may have been in it, in case it damages it, and i only use power adapters anyway.
while i opened it up i also opened up the small clone to compare, and i had noticed that not only is the small clone better because of the nano’s lack of a depth switch but it is a completely different circuit all together!
i also noticed that the nano clone has 2 trim pots inside and the small clone has only one, im assuming thats because the nano has one extra in place of a depth switch.
my main question is, does anyone know the functions of the 2 trim pots in the nano? (labeled trim1 and trim2)(and the function of the one on the small clone for that matter) i am aware of the precautions ect…of messing with trim pots, i have done it before and i will mark there original locations, i just wanted to know if adjusting them might make the nano a little more useful to me to free up a bit of space on the board, instead of using the old faithful small clone.
bump…..dont any one know what the 2 trim pots on the nano clone do?
I don’t know about the Nano Clone, but the trimpot in the Small Clone is for bias and shouldn’t really be touched… the usable range of the Small Clone’s trimpot is fairly narrow – adjusting it may lead to the pedal sounding distorted/lo-fi in the best case scenario, to completely killing your signal in the worst.
(the only time I’d advise adjusting the Small Clone’s trimpot is if the effect is overloading/clipping in normal use – just guitar->pedal->amp.)
I’d assume one of the Nano’s trimpots would be for bias too and the other one may be for effect depth…
at the end of the day, it’s your pedal so it’s up to you if you want to tweak the trimpots…
if you do, make sure you mark the original position(s) first.
