Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › Clockworks Main Clock LED is causing noise in Crash Pad and Super Space Drum output signals
Hi,
when I use the internal clock of the Clockworks (especially when it goes fast) the main clock LED is causing noise which is audible in the outputs of the Super Space Drum and Crash Pad (couldn’t test it with other devices and couldn`t test it with external clock). You can hear it if the main clock is faster than the speed selected by the dividers for the crash and space drum. It is some kind of a ticking white noise every time the LED is triggered.
Is there a way to get rid of the main clock LEDs noise? Or do I have to modify the Clockworks?
This is a strange problem. Are you using the power supply that came supplied with the Clockworks? Can you take a photo of the label on the power supply?
Thanks for the help!
I’ve used a XVive Mini Power Suppley (with a polarity converter). After I switched to the original EHX power supplies the problem is fixed. Seems like the XVive Power supply is not suitable for this kind of pedals.
Do you know if the Strymon power supply Zuma is suitable for the pedals? Or are you planning to release an EHX multi power supply?
Thanks for troubleshooting the power supply issue.
The Clockworks draws a large amount of current each time the LEDs blink. During the development phase we wanted to provide a 9VDC power jack and boost the voltage internally. We found that this was extremely problematic and the Clockworks did not work correctly. The boost supply simply couldn’t provide the proper current. We determined that a 9VDC power supply would have to supply a peak current of approximately 1A to the unit if it were to work correctly. I recommend you use the power supply it came with unless you can find another third party power supply that can provide 18VDC/500mA.
