In all the BMP schematics I’ve seen the clipping diodes all have the “upper” cathodes all face the same way and the “lower” ones face the opposite, but in the photos of early Big Muffs the only consistency I can see is that the pairs are connected head to tail; i.e. cathode to anode. Some have both “uppers” facing left, some right, some one of each. So my question is: does it matter, as long as they form a circular path?
Doesn’t matter, as long as they’re connected head to tail.
Excellent, thanks. And, apropos The Continuing BMP Project, the pcb is an excellent repro of the Version 1 Triangle board. The problem seems to have been in the layout diagram that came with it. The values shown for the resistor from the first transistor emitter to ground was 100K rather than 100R and for the second transistor base to ground was shown as 8K2 rather than 82K – simple typos I think. Once I changed the values to those in the schematic it goes like Jack the bear. Great sounding circuit!
That would definitely cause trouble.
What ROn said! Makes zero difference so long as its anode to cathode.
