I recently installed a power jack to my Civil War Big Muff for reliability and to keep from going through so many batterys. At first i wired it up just as I assumed (removed the battery connector and attached the wire that was connected to B+ and attached it to the positive post of the new jack) it to be wired. It wound not power up in this configuration. with test leads i found that it would power up when reversed. “WING-O” I chuckled to myself. Only to haul it to band practice to find out it seemed to be running at half “effect”…. The distortion seems to be half as distorted…. What happened? Whats happening? What am I missing?
You might have damaged the circuit when the power was reversed.
Noooooooo! Now what? Im pretty good with stuff like this. Understand ohms law and such. Also have a lab scope…. anything particular I should check/could check? Drunk bass players everywhere have tried putting their 9v’s wrong for decades!
I’d open it up and see if you can see any damaged components.
Thank you for your time. I will open it up tonight…
