After testing quite a bit there are 2 ‘evil’ bugs that should have been corrected before this model was released. It is incomprehensible to me why these bugs which are OBVIOUS AND HORRENDOUS were not corrected before product release.????
1) Using stereo inputs DOES NOT defeat the pong delay effect, using 2 amps. It works poorly, some hardware bug?
2) After selecting a SAVED SETTING FOR DELAY, and then turning the MODE knob to change the setting from Echo to one of the reverbs, the DELAY IS STILL ON EVEN THOUGH I HAVE TURNED OFF THE FEEDBACK AND DELAY SETTINGS, meaning the knob is turned completely counter clockwise (off position).
I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE UNIT – disengage the adaptor or turn off the power bar I use – and TURN IT BACK ON in order to hear the particular reverb mode I want WITHOUT HAVING THE PREVIOUS PRESET DELAY messing up the sound.
What gives here????
This bug is really the worst bug of all. The stereo input pong delay problem is resolved by using a mono out from the CR and then using an A/B/Y pedal to connect to 2 amps. End of problem, though not the most elegant fix.
However having a preset mess up any other mode and having to turn the unit OFF and then ON is really REFUND BABY. You should either sell the unit at a BIG DISCOUNT because it is buggy to the max, and DOES NOT PERFORM THE WAY EH DECLARES THE PRODUCT TO BEHAVE – the MANUAL IS INCORRECT, the website DOES NOT MENTION THIS BUG, or you should OWN UP – take responsibility – and ADMIT THE FAILINGS OF THE UNIT.
THE OBVIOUS QUESTION IS WHY HASN’T EH RELEASED AN UPDATE TO THE VERSION WITH THESE BUGS FIXED????
and offer owners of the pedal like myself SOME SORT OF FREE TRADE IN FOR THE CORRECTED VERSION???The fact that EH has not admitted to these bugs and has not offered an update with bugs fixed tells me your company is CLUELESS , has no satisfactory TESTING PROCEDURES, and is giving an impression of incompetence/dishonesty!
Tsk tsk sob sigh good grief!
And yet the pedal sounds so very good!!!! I would be lost without it…
March 21, 2011 at 11:41 am #106603CryabetesParticipantFirst off, relax. We’re not electroharmonix employees [except where notated EHX STAFF] and yelling at us isn’t going to help.
Second, I’ve been reading this forum for a while, to my knowledge, you’re the first to have a problem with the delay [the ping pong stereo bleed has happened before though, and EHX said they hadn’t thought to test for it].And also, they’re a small company; cut them some slack. They aren’t Boss or Harman or Dunlop. So relax first and think through your problem; Have you tried [and I realise this is a dick-around], from the preset with the delay, changing to a delay that ISN’T the preset, then changing to a reverb?
March 21, 2011 at 12:02 pm #106605gonzaldoMembercan’t cut some slack, as this is a huge basic error that should have caught before release. Whether this is a small company or a huge company is irrelevant. A bug is a bug is a bug and it is a bad big bug that speaks volumes about a company’s claim of being thorough (or not). I refuse to believe I am the first user to discover this problem. Perhaps I am the first poster on this forum to mention it, don’t know that. I live with the bugs as I enjoy the sounds the pedal provides. But as soon as I can afford the purchases, I am running to Strymon for their Blue Sky Reverberator and one of their 3 terrific delay pedals. I did trade some overdrive pedal for a MXR Carbon Copy and I am happy to report that the CC and Cathedral Reverb work very well together creating a lush 3D sound when using 2 amps. The 2 pedals sound better (to me) together than individually. No there is no work around. I have to unplug the CR and then turn it back on. It would be nice if a future version fixed up these bugs and added the ability to store more than 1 setting per mode. But I suspect this experience of discovering bugs has tainted my desire to spend any more bucks on EH products. This was, and is, the only EH pedal I like. I have tried a bunch of other EH pedals, and found the tones way too harsh and shrill. No I am not being overly critical, just honest. But hey, I don’t care if you disagree. Each to his own. I won’t post anymore. It seems the medium of the message means more to you than the message contents. Look at the facts not how I deliver them. EH has failed their users in a professional sense, to me that is painfully obvious. They have lost me, and their loss is Strymon’s gain.
March 21, 2011 at 12:09 pm #114728gonzaldoMembersorry forgot to mention (and this IS my last post) that when a company takes your money for a product they sell AND the product DOES NOT do what the manual and other company literature says it does (ping pong problem with stereo inputs) AND has a major bug in mode switching, then the company is obligated to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. If this was a car product or a toy or ANYTHING then the company would offer the paying customer some means of satisfaction whether it be a FREE SERVICE FIX or a REBATE. EH has done nothing, further compounding the problem. It is not only the fact that there is an obvious major bug, it is the fact that EH either is not aware of the bug or has chosen to remain silent. SO either EH is incompetent or dishonest or both. TO me that is basic logic, and unfortunately Q.E.D.
Good bye forever!@!!!March 21, 2011 at 12:44 pm #114730The EH ManModeratorOr you could just return it where you bought it.
March 21, 2011 at 12:56 pm #114731CryabetesParticipantBye. Have fun with your entitlement issues.
March 21, 2011 at 3:16 pm #114732friedjesseradioMemberthis guy seems to be extremely over reacting.
when i heard that the delay can ping pong, i had to try it out and i had to show it off to my friends because it was cool. the thing about switching from delay to reverb though, i havent had that problem although i havent looked for it.
you keep saying bug but what i think youre looking for is porposeful programing.
i agree with the delay to reverb issue that it is a problem but thats nothing to scream about on a forum. you bring it back to the store or contact the manufacturer directly. honestly, it does sound like a problem but also a defective unit.
good luck and calm down buddy boy
oh and i looked at strymon for the first time just a second ago. i was hoping to bash them on their looks and sound but i gotta say, they look like theyre pretty good, although, i think you said before that you wish there were more presets for each reverb mode. if you look at the strymon reverb, its only got one preset. just wanted to point that out
March 21, 2011 at 3:31 pm #114733CryabetesParticipant@FJR- have you tried duplicating the delay preset issue? sounds like a pretty cool glitch to me.
March 21, 2011 at 6:13 pm #114734friedjesseradioMembernot yet. im at school right now but i will try it when i get home

May 9, 2017 at 1:05 pm #122853Mojo LuciferMemberHello all! Newbie here,
I’ve owned my Cathedral since 2012 and it’s been a “pillar” of my sound ever since –
i hardly ever touch the pots (except blend) as i’ve recorded all the presets i use for live applications.Unfortunately since yesterday (may 2017) is seems the memory card is f**ked
Example : if i preset my signature ‘flerb’ setting for instance and start playing the intro to my fave doom track, after about 20 seconds the preset switches off! (orange light starts to flicker without me touching any of the knobs!) Therefore reverting to whatever the knobs are physically set to – (in my case an ear slaughtering treble heavy flanged out reverb in a church made of frying pans – which nearly got me fired from practice by a beardy bass player threatening me with a Rickenbacker)
This renders it unusable for live application and i know i will dearly miss my Flerb i’ve had set exactly to my taste for the last 4 years (RIP Psychedelic Partner)
Is this a common problem? is it repairable?
Thanks for any info you can provide me with!
