Hi everyone, this is my first post here
I have an EHX Worm (the older, big case version) and I cant stand the amount of noise it makes. Ive tried running it at lower voltages but it doesnt help. Also any pick up hotter than those on my jag and strat seem to distort the input.
Is there any mods to fix these problems? I hope so, because I dont want to get rid of it… but it’s of no use to me if there is no way to alleviate these problems.
Thanks in advance for any help.
The designer of the Worm, Puretube, posts here, so he may be able to give you some insight. I think if you replace some of the components it should work better.
Ton`s WORM-modz…
That’s a lot of work. I think I’ll keep mine the way it is
I have best results when using my Fender Mustang (low output single coils) and compression to regulate the incoming signal gain. That combination yields no clipping and an insignificant amount of hiss in the phaser mode.
Thanks for the replies! I will have to get my friend to help me with those mods. (i’m not to savvy with the ol’ soldering iron yet)
Will this also solve the problem with clipping on the input?
cheers!
No…
So it would seem that nothing can be done then about this then?
I’ve been running mine, with the adapter plug into my computer’s “power conditioner”. It has been really quiet. I’m mean really quiet.
Anybody know if the new Worm Version (the smallest) is the same as noisy than the old (biggest) one?
Thanks
I’ve heard that it is quieter. There are ways to make the “big box”, less noisy.
Yea, mine’s pretty noisy as well. To fix that distortion with high-output pickups, I have to either roll back the volume on my guitar, or run it through the effects loop on my amp.
Thanks people for the response.
