hi guys-
just got a 3 knob bad stone [ think this was the final version ] from e bay and im really digging the sound.
there is a quite a large volume drop however when engaged with fresh battery.
does anyone know what i can do to rectify this? is there a particular resistor i could change out to a different value to cure the problem?
i’m leery of messing too much with this as i dont want to damage it in any way and its possible the original circuit designer had the same volume issues and maybe couldnt do much about it.
i used a booster after it at my gig today and it helped but it would be cool to just switch it on and not have to worry about the level disparity.
this pedal is the later version with the 3 knobs and orange writing [ see the bottom of page on this link http://www.pedalarea.com/small_stone.htm ]
theres a review on harmony central where a guy talks about removing one resistor but im not sure where to look for this on the circuit. ive quoted him below–
And you can solder out the resistor thats at the output cable on the board between the condensator and the groud(gives better and louder sound for effect)!
i noticed there is also what looks like a 47k resistor tied to a tantalum cap on the underside of the board….would tweaking that one’s value make any difference do you think?
many thanks for any advice
rob
I think he’s referring to the 470 ohm resistor. If you backtrack the output it goes to the junction of a 470 ohm resistor and a .01uF cap. Remove the 470 and see if that helps.
Mine has the same problem. Why was the 470 placed in the circuit to begin with if all it does is drop the volume?
