Has anyone tried the BYOC (Build Your Own Clone) Large Beaver built to triangle muff specs?
Does it sound pretty close to an actual triangle muff?

A vintage triangle big muff is a little out of my price range and are hard to find, so I was wondering if the large beaver is a good alternative.

Nope but it’ll get you in the triangle muff territory for sure.

BTW, this thread should be in the lounge, I moved it for you! :)

I had a GGG triangle clone and if that’s what triangle muffs sound like I’m glad I didn’t pay out for a real one…..I much prefer my NYC and LBM…..honestly.

it was really really scoopy, the tone control didn’t seem to have that sweet spot. it just sounded like a cheap copy of a muff to me, it might as well have been a behringer or something.

That’s the thing with the triangle and ramshead muffs, they don’t sound as good as the RI’s or the opamp or 80’s versions IMO.
People think that just cause they are older they are automatically better which isn’t true of course.

I think the only thing I liked about it was that it sounded better at low gain than any other I’ve had, but then I never play a muff on low gain anyway!! :D

Yeah, a muff at low gain is a total waste IMO, I always have the gain on full.

I always have mine at close to all the way up, or like 3 o’clock.

    pfff

I have my LBM at about 9 o clock, but then my BMTW and BBM are at around 1 or 2.
