Hi All-
I’m looking for some advice about my Black Finger….I’ve been using a Black Finger for about two months. Purchased used, off craigslist, not sure how old the pedal is. It came with a dedicated EHX power supply, which I have been using to run the pedal.
It sounds amazing! I love this compressor and what it does for my tone. But, when I run it in ‘Normal’ mode, I get a buzzy sound which is best described as a fizz. The Normal mode adds a lot of punch and even a small amount of dirt/gain to my attack, which I actually love. But, along with that, comes a fizzy sound that lingers in the sustain, sucks out my guitar tone, and basically makes playing open chords or anything with sustain sound crappy. This happens with both the LED and Lamp optics.
I’ve been using the compressor only in ‘Squash’ mode, because the fizz sound is not present there. The fizz appears to be isolated to the ‘Normal’ mode.
Has anyone experienced a similar noise? Could this be a sign that the pedal needs new 12AX7s, or maybe needs some repair?
Thanks
Tim
