Hi I have a Black Big Muff Russian with solid metal chassis (no like the last black muff) like this
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d5/TwoBigMuffsoriginal.jpg
She is modded Creamy Dreamer Mod + 9V Adapter (boss style)
And after trying with a Sovtek Small Stone, my muff doesn’t make any sound !
So I think an inversion of polarity of something like that have destructed capacitors or transistors… but I think that it will be transistors!
But I don’t know what are the model for replacement? Inside the muff the transistors are called “EKD” I don’t know what their are… I have also an other russian big muff (2006) and the transistors are C547C so BC547C.
What are the best for change?
Thanks a lot for your help
PS: if you have others clues about the dysfunction, I will be happy to get it
no ones?
I have the exact same Russian (and one of the newer ones) and have had problems with it from day 1. The volume only works between 11-2 o’clock and nowhere else so it kind of ruins it. I have rewired it a couple of times and will probably keep trying but it has an amazing sound. Good luck with yours!
Have you audio probed it. Or checked it with a DMM?
BTW, you can use 2N5089 transistors, they sound good in muffs.
