Hi all – I’ve been using the same Big Muff for the last 3 years. Up ’til now, I’ve always just plugged my guitar into my effects chain, then into the amp. I use about 8 pedals, and single coil pickups, so I get quite a bit of noise.
Recently, I’ve started using the effects send/return on the amp (a Fender 85) which takes away lots of noise, but when the Muff is engaged, the sound from it is totally messed up – a poor, distorted sound, no sustain, & a damp crackling noise as if it was a near-dead battery (I’m using a power supply).
None of my other pedals give me this problem, and the only way to use the Muff is to go directly into the amps input, which leaves me with the noise.
Anybody know of a fix for the Big Muff ?
    Thanks

distortions aren’t supposed to be in a loop

Don’t put it in the loop…it should go inline in front of the preamp otherwise it’s going to sound awful. Loop is for things like chorus and delay, not dirt. And muffs are kinda inherently noisy pedals…

Yeah, you don’t want to put gain effects in the loop.
