Hi everyone, I have a problem with my big muff. I own the latest version. Its volume pot play some strange tricks : If I set it at 2:00 o’ clock, my exit sound is no bright ; contrarwise, if I set my big muff at maximum volume my sound is bright and nice. But the main problem is when I plug a pedal such as a delay or a phaser after the big muff : if the big muff is at maximum volume level, it causes no matters but if the volume pot isn’t at maximum, when i turn on the delay or the phaser it incredibly boost my signal and make my sound bright.
Can you tell me what’s wrong with my big muff ?
Thanks,
Jacopo
What kind of delay or phaser is it?
They are both phase 90 and carbon copy delay by mxr. I even know that phase 90 has a mid freqency boost but I already modified it in order to eliminate it (in fact it doesen’t boost the overdrive channel of the amplifier)
you could be peaking out the compander on the carbon copy. I’m not sure what they use for the all pass filters on a phase 90 but if they’re “transparent” compression stages, it’s very likely you’re fully saturating them. Somewhat ironically, I’d suggest you get a small compressor like the nano soul preacher, Boss CS-3, or Alesis Smashup to put after the delay or phaser.
Let me know if you’re following what I’m saying or if you want a more detailed explanation.
