Does anyone know what is going on with my Big Muff?
When I plug it into my Line 6 Spider III it sounds as it should, fuzzy and gainy like hell. But when I plug it into my Blackstar HT-5 head it just sounds so weak, the distortion is a bad joke and the fuzz is completely gone. I play on the clean channels of both amps.
I really love that pedal, but its a real bummer I cant get the sound I want and the sound im used to.
Try messing around with the settings, and also make sure that your head’s input is functioning.
I haven’t used either of the amps in question but from experience I know pedals can sound very different going into different amps, so I’m not suprised it sounds different going from a solid state modelling amp to a small valve head.
I also think fuzz pedals usually sound much ‘fuzzier’ or ‘fizzier’ going into a solid state amp, I think valve amps tend to smooth them off slightly.
but saying all that, what you are describing sounds more dramatic than that…. although I’d be suprised if something is “is going on” with the Big Muff, more likely it just isn’t suited to the amp… unless it needs a new battery or something of course?
First of all, thanks for the answers. I tried messing around with the settings like crazy and I cant get “the” big muff tone. I thought that it just doesnt sound good with the amp too, but it really is more dramatic.
I use the official power supply for the pedal.
Try another pedal on your head. If that sounds odd, you may have an issue with your head.
