I acquired a working vintage Big Muff but the slide switch was temperamental and kept cutting out when touched. I replaced the original 3 prong switch with a 6 prong switch, using just one row. I think I read on this forum that that was the way to go. Well, now it’s not working. Do I need to go with a 3 prong switch or did I do something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
If it’s just a 2 position switch it should be fine. I’d take a meter and check for continuity on the closed contacts.
Was the old switch just not making a good connection? I take them apart and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser.
Yes, just a 2 position switch. When you wiggled the old switch it would cut out. I’ll try taking apart and cleaning the old switch. But, wonder why the new switch isn’t working. I’m “electrically challenged” and not sure I know the correct way to test it.
