I finally got my hands on a ‘Big Muff’ and I am having a slight problem, hopefully you guys can straighten this out for me? The problem is that the E, A ,D strings sound far to bassy when the pedal is on. I have adjusted the tone but unless it is right on full the tone is really really dark.

I am using it with a Strat and a Fender Hot Rod deluxe amp. It is mainly when using the neck pick up for soloing.

Thanks! I went back and had another go after my post and I turned down the volume to match the amp before the pedal is on and used the bridge pick up and it is all good!

Nope, its just that when I hear too bassy and muddy i think of the russian version because its way boomy, unplayable IMO.

I’ve never heard of the NYC being too bassy or muddy before, I’ have two of them, I once had three of them and I never had the problem. I guess its got to do with you set up, the pickup used etc. Use the bridge pickup and set your amp EQ right and you shouldnt have a problem with it.

Thanks, I think it is most definitely ‘operator error’ 🙄
