I recently purchased a Big Muff Pi, but when I hook it up to the amplifier it goes through periods of time when it works perfectly (lights up and turns on), works strangely (fuzz/effect works, no light), lights up but doesn’t work, and doesn’t work at all when turned on (I can still hear my bass when it’s bypassed).
I am using a 9v battery to power the pedal, I don’t own a power cable for it. There isn’t really any rhyme or reason to the times when it works and when it doesn’t – it’s super intermittant. I have already tried changing the battery.
I also looked inside and nothing looks super loose or particularly weakly soldered, but I think from past experience with other electronics that intermittent problems like this are commonly the result of some kind of loose connection or failing component?
Before seeing if I can find a multimeter to borrow and just testing every component on the board, does anyone have experience with this kind of issue? Thank you for your help!
sounds like the switch may be busted; Next time it starts doing the weird behavior, see if you can’t stop for a moment and grab something to test whether the switch is acting the same on each pull.
