Hello, I’ve been using the Big Muff Pi for 2 months now, and it has suddenly died.
The true bypass works, but when I activate it (LED shows strong light) no sound comes through.
Any ideas as to what I could do?
I live in Norway so shipping it to the US is not really an option.
Thank you for your attention.
i get that with my double muff sometimes, a ceiling fell on it and the input jack bent. It could of suffered damage being transported. Do you take it places?
No it’s been in my home all the time, and it works when It’s not activated.
Will I void warranty if I open it up?
probably
I doubt the warranty will be voided by opening it. It could be a bad footswitch or a loose wire. Might also be a problem on the circuit board.
That also happens when you plug it backwards (guitar into output, input to amplifier), but I doubt that’s the case.
wait, would that hurt it?
No, that happens when changing polarity of the dc current. Plugging it like guitar>out>in>amp will make it work in bypass mode and not work at all in on mode, because of true bypass. If you want I can explain it a bit further, but that’s pretty much everything about it.
If the battery was dead would the LED shine (I’m guessing it has to get power from somewhere)?
I’m taking it to the store I bought it from following week, will update if it is anything I deem interesting.
