Home › Forums › The Lounge › Best Bargain Guitar/Bass/Effect at a Pawn Store You’ve Had?
Just bought a (slightly battered) Epiphone Korina V in a pawn store for £125, I’m chuffed to bits with it. I’m a left-handed player, so I think I’ll flip it and pretend to be Albert King all week.
What’s the best bargain you’ve had in a pawn store?
Nice, yeah you could rock a V upsidedown no problem. Just flip the bridge and get a new nut if you need to.
nothing from ‘pawn stores’ at all for me… I’ve had some nice bargains on ebay though.
well i got a custom shop fender strat for $150 ! they didn’t know that’s what it was, because the name on the headstock was scratched off (odd i know) but based on the fact the control cavity had a foil custom shop sticker, and it had matching serial numbers. it was black with a red tortoise pickguard, HSS pickup configuration, and rosewood fretboard.
other than that i got 2 amazing deals on Ebay!
i got a rare amp for $150 with flight case and shipping included!
its a Studiomaster Valve Leadmaster, they were only made in 1981-82. its a 60 watt tube combo, and it was made in england. IMO its a euro clone of a Mesa Boogie mark 2 C+.
check it out!

(i dont know why the whole thing dont highlight, you need to copy and paist it.)
i love it, it sounds great, its my main amp now, and i own a Mesa dual rectifier stack and a peavey 5150 stack (first model)
and i also got on Ebay a sweet guitar, know one realy knows who made it but it looked nice so i gave it a chance for $200.
you got to check it out, i posted a topic on it. search for: “can anyone name this guitar?”
that fast fret stuff is crap, it’s like eating a cake and then playing guitar with icing.
i got a boss df-2 for $10 less than a new ds-1. i also sold a crash cymbal for $20 more than i paid for it new.
in both cases, they simply didn’t know what it was worth.
i once bought a Boss SG-1 Slow Gear pedal for £5 from a pawn shop. sold it for £200
Not at a pawn shop, but I bought a ’65 Magnatone M8 for $30. Gotta love true vibrato.
