I’m wondering if anyone else feels eternally betrayed by Electro Harmonix. I’ve owned 11 different effects by them and go through the same cycle every time: buy, on board, stop using, off board, sell. I have no idea what my problem is… I love the concepts, the controls, the design, even the art and then I end up feeling completely meh about the pedals. No specific complaints… it’s just a relationship with zero passion remaining. We’re left staring at each other over cold soup.

Does anyone else have this syndrome? Even with a different manufacturer? For the record here’s what I’ve gone through: 3 different muffs, crayon, memory toy, deluxe memory man, small stone, superego, electric mistress, holy grail, pulsar.

    HaHaHaHa.

Yeah, while not all ehx pedals are everyones cup of tea. if you are still batting 0 for 0 after playing a deluxe memory man idk what to tell you. what kind of music are you into? what are your favorite songs/albums/guitar tones? what gets your creative juices flowing?

what kind if rig do you have? how long have you been playing? how good of a player are you? do you know effects placement to optimize sounds?

I mean, there’s so many things to know to even give you a modicum of a decent answer.

Since the covid started, ive been trying out lots of pedals . ce-2 vs small clone, tried a dc-2, boss oc-2 all my tests leave EHX the winner lately. idk why but it just sound better to me and are in line with the sounds i love listening to. The DMM, Bass Microsynth, Graphic Fuzz, QTron Plus, Small Clone are all here to stay.

I play rock, grunge, metal, jazz, country rock, progressive. im good with EHX at my feet.

I mean Andy Summer, David Gilmour, The Edge, King Crimson, and lots of players can’t be that tone deaf.

“Every EHX pedal I’ve had before sounded great for the price”

That doesn’t sound like someone “eternally betrayed by Electro Harmonix”. I think there’s something hinky here. Is it just me?

yeah, either they are looking to stir the pot or they genuinely want help. cant tell. I dont mind having a helpful and engaging discussion but this is one way to kick a hornets nest on home turf.

I’ve only ever sold two EH pedals, and I just bought one of them back.

I had the stereo memory man with hazarai and sold it, which I don’t regret as I don’t particularly like digital effects as I like simple analog. I had the micro synth and sold that ten years ago. I bought a 1980 Deluxe Memory man just yesterday and a 00s micro synth last week.

I’ll never let them go again. Most of my effects are EH.

Indeed, there was spam in it. I deleted it. If you notice anymore like it let me know.

Isn’t the OP’s problem what a lot of people just end up doing naturally with gear?

I currently own 5 EH pedals but I used to have a lot more. I went through a few different muffs before I landed on the green Russian reissue (although I really would like to try the Triangle and Ram’s Head reissues as well now.) Everyone’s got different guitars and different amps, so no drive is going to be one size fits all.

I went through several EH modulation pedals but found that I couldn’t work enough modulation into my playing to make them worth the board space.

I’ve sold a couple because I needed cash and knew I’d eventually upgrade to an improved offering of EH’s.
