ARC, the (unofficial)association for the re-issue of the Crying Tone, is absolutely non-organised and totally un-official, but does broadly unite EHX wah pedal enthusiasts in their wish for a re-issue of this great vintage EHX series. All one has to do is vote. Any takers?

July 2, 2009 at 12:13 am #98740BlueSteelParticipantI’d love to see these re-issued!
Please re-issue these EHX!
July 2, 2009 at 10:56 am #98747DreamhunterMemberQuote:yup, why not eh?Exactly what i thought: why not? 😆 I am not a big fan of wah pedals in general, but i am all for EHX brining us new products. And if EHX would start using the box for a wah pedal, then other products that use the same design could follow (volume/expression pedal etc.) and that i would REALLY want!

I wonder what the new ‘rocker’ type pedal would look like? I can’t see EHX using a generic ‘crybaby’ shaped case.
July 2, 2009 at 2:39 pm #98756WatsonWoodMemberI notice that there is one What’s a Crying Tone answer on the poll. So here is a quote from one of the Forum’s CT topic posts:
“Here’s a photo of my Crying Tone / Volume Pedal family. (Posted on Pan Pedal as well). Posted here because I picked up one of the Volume Pedals, the Crying Tone and one of the Muff Fuzz Crying Tones over the last months on eBay. A good example of what is available out there at the moment.(The others I bought at the time of issue and used (still use) when playing gigs and in the studio)”
As some stalwart EHX forum members have pointed out, there were other pedals in this format, for example, the Pan Pedal, the Hotfoot, the Bad Stone Phaser, the Octave Multiplexer, the Queen Triggered Wah…..and the CT housing would indeed be really practical for a whole range of effect pedals, with volume/modulation etc able to be controlled directly by use of the treadle.

November 17, 2011 at 11:15 am #116358WatsonWoodMemberChristmas is coming, EHX have brought out some incredible new gear, there are rumours of a whole new series of magic pedals…it’s all happening fast. A good time to wave the Crying Tone flag once more. Who knows? Maybe this time we get lucky!
November 17, 2011 at 11:33 am #116359ScruffieMemberI’d much rather see the EHX Queen triggered wah or Treadle Bad Stone reissued in an updated format.
But I don’t think they’re gunna bring any Reissues back at this stage in the game, I think they’ve moved past the originals and are moving forward.
Some kind of new digital wah could be pretty damn interesting though… although i’m not sure what they’d have it do.
Other than the fact that a Wah Shell is going to cost them a fair bit to be designed, adding an expression output to pedals seems to be the new flavour as it offers the best of both worlds.
November 18, 2011 at 7:34 pm #116387WatsonWoodMemberYes, I agree. The enclosure is built to last and last. Fairly expensive nowadays. But somehow it would be great to have the wah shell packed with super circuits and boasting in & out, effect loop, expression, stereo pan and who knows what else.
January 5, 2012 at 1:45 am #116673CryabetesParticipantKnow what’d be awesome? Ehx taking the cartridge concept from the l6 tonecore pedals and making one wah base and swappable cartridges for whichever models of crying tone.
January 23, 2012 at 7:45 am #116841WatsonWoodMemberNow, that sounds really good! It would reduce overall cost, both manufacturing and, for us musicos, buying, which is of course important. Slot in and play. Excellent. And an expression pedal “cartridge” could join the choice range.
March 21, 2012 at 7:35 pm #117176WatsonWoodMemberA black box! A shiny thing? No moving parts? So, not a re-issue, more of a re-vision Crying Tone. Yes, I am talking feebly after seeing the vid of the new Crying Tone at EHX HQ! And more variations on this theme appear to have been announced to certain shops. This includes a Crying Tone with Fuzz, apparently. An Octave Multiplexer with no moving parts? This all sounds good. Thanks will be given as due once I get my foot on one of these. Shall we keep voting?
