So yesterday I got my POG2 in the mail and I freaking love this thing. I was playing around on it with my J and getting some wicked sounds from it. So this morning I drop the registration card in the mail, come back and decide to switch to my P bass lyte, which has actives in it. I plug everything in, stomp on the POG2, and POP! The bypass light goes off but nothing else. I try re-engaging it but no matter how many times I stomp it the pedal doesn’t engage.
I turned everything off, unplugged the POG2 and unscrewed the back to the horrible smell of burnt wire. I can still cycle through presets and everything except the bypass LED lights up, but I just can’t get the pedal itself to turn on. I literally mailed in the registration card 2 hours before this happened and I really don’t want a $325 brick.
(PS – I already called the tech line and left a message, so if any of you see this it’s the same guy)
Ouch. Bummer.
I’d give an email to info@ehx.com
I think it’d be best to deal with their warranty service rather than sending it back to the store, because you’d have to go through 4 trips in the mail instead of just one. Of course if the store will take it back and send you a new one, you might want to investigate that as well.
Don’t worry, you won’t have a 325 dollar brick! You’ll send it out and get it back in no time. EH’s warranty service is very good in my experience.
Called the store and they said that since it wasn’t damaged out of the box and I’d already mailed in the warranty card I should go with EHX’s warranty instead of sending it to them. Considering how long it took them to get around to shipping it, perhaps sending it to EHX would be better.
EDIT
Just got off the phone with EHX and they said to go ahead and send it out, that it’s covered under warranty, and that mine is the first POG2 injury. (that’s gotta be worth SOMETHING, right?) You guys kick ass!
I wonder if the active bass pickups thing was a coincidence or it really did do something to it?
If someone from EHX could let us know, that might be helpful to know for the future.
I hope they can help you figure out what happened. That would most certainly help.
