    Which do you fancy most? For me, it is by far analog. It seems that whenever I put a digital pedal in my chain, it kind of makes my tone kill itself, if you know what I mean (maybe I’m just not good at tone makin’). But that’s just what I think. How about you?

    I used to be an all analog man until I got the new BOSS Fender pedals. These things are amazing. They sound just like the Deluxe Reverb and the Bassman. I’ve taken my amp right out of the chain and go straight to my board now.

    Both. . .

    Stuff like what the HOG and SMMH can do is impossible with analog.

    But when it comes to stuff like fuzz and modulation, I’m all analog.

    I’m usually of the opinion that nobody can tell once the effect is in a mix. NOBODY, or at least hardly anybody, so you’re likely the only one who will ever care whether a good-sounding pedal is digital or analog.

    I’ve also learned a few things from EHX and Boss… Digital is awesome. If done properly, digital pedals can sound absolutely fantastic – in Boss’ case, just like analog but without the size, price and maintenance hassle, or in the case of EHX, totally unique.

    EDIT: I forgot to specify that not ALL Boss digital effects are great, but I find most of them are pretty good at the very least.

    I prefer analog modulation, OD/distortion/fuzz, and filters.

    I’m a sucker for a Fender spring reverb, and for analog delays; but digital reverbs and delays can do things that analog can’t, so I like both.

    both, I prefer digital delays and pitch effects.

    actually my Hazrai and digitech Whammy are probably my two favorite pedals that aren’t distortions.

    Not really much to add to that. They have their own ballparks in many cases. I tend to trust analog more, though. Computers freak me out.

    silly question I’m sure, but what’s the difference between ‘no preference’ and ‘both’ I don’t really have a preference as such, if it sounds cool and does what I want it to, I’m not bothered either way…..actually is it possible to prefer both? a preference is liking one over the other isn’t it?

    By both, I meant that you can appreciate what both sides have to offer, and by no preference, I meant you don’t care if your pedals are analog or digital, regardless of type of effect. I guess it is kind of vague, but it made sense inside of my head.

    Both as it depends on the effect, for fuzz, distortion, chorus, flangers and phasers I will only use analog but for octave, loopers and delay I like digital.

    ah, I see now, yeah, I was right to say ‘both’ then. :)
