Well, I decided to get the Cathedral after all. It has already been reviewed here quite well, so I really have little to add. But I do want to make a comment about it in terms of analog vs digital. I had a VanAmps analog reverb tank. What I found for my taste is that for acoustic guitar, I much prefer the clarity of a DECENT digital reverb such as the Cathedral. Though the Cathedral can get really crazy, it can also be VERY subtle, which is great for acoustic guitar. For me, analog can be a bit muddy/dark for acoustic guitar, so I prefer digital in that case. I also use the EHX Knockout pedal because it is incredible for tone shaping an acoustic guitar even though that is not how it is advertised. I now have a couple of these, since they have been showing up used around town lately. So my pedal setup looks like this:
Bos GE-7 (modded) -> Knockout -> Cathedral -> SMMH
Sometimes, I will use a TC Electronic Chorus Plus chorus/flange pedal in there too. I also have a Fuchs Royal Plush compressor pedal that I sometimes use. Anyway, all of these represent what I consider useful for acoustic guitar. I never use all these pedals at once. I always have the Boss GE-7 and Knockout involved, but then select which other pedal(s) to use.
I chose the Boss GE-7 graphic EQ pedal over others because it sounds very good and is quiet when properly modded and it has a 1 meg ohm input impedance which my pickup in my guitar demands.
