Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › Advice Please – 12 String Pedal
I could use a (better) 12-string “simulator”, for electric. I play a Tele thru a Fender Super Champ into a Bose L1, if that matters, although I don’t think it does or should.
I want it, for example, for the intro of Hotel California, for jangly Byrds/Petty songs like Feel A Whole Lot Better, maybe a few similar others – mainly for strumming rhythm.
I currently have and tried the Boss Super Shifter pedal, and I’m wondering if something else is better. Specifically – would the EH-Micro-POG work for me? And the Polyphonic POG – is this a lot “better” for this purpose? Can anyone describe the differences?
I don’t really want to buy an electric 12 string. I have the Boss GR-33 Synth, but don’t really want to go with the additional mount synth pickup.
Ideal would be a simple pedal that sounds “reasonably like” a 12, does not have to be exactly perfect to suit my need.
If anyone is really happy with a solution I would appreciate hearing about it.
Many thanks, Mike
For what you described, the Micro POG would suite you perfectly. The main difference between the POG & microPOG are that the POG has not only an octave down & octave up, but 2 octaves up, detune (modulation) functions & a low pas filter.
But for just a convincing 12 string sound, the micro POG will do it for you.
Thanks – I’ll give the Micro a try! I don’t think the other octaves would benefit me…
You related to Bill Cosby, Dr. Huxtable? Sorry, bet you get that all the time…
ANyway, appreciate your help!
Mike
The micro pog is pretty good at 12 string sounds, but there is an (unavoidable) problem… on a real 12 string guitar the top 3 strings are just doubled not octaves, so when you play something like an open D chord it does sound a bit odd. It’s really good at what it does though.
