A switchable, maybe even VARIABLE, buffer with a switchable three or five band EQ to put at the front of your effects chain.
Sometimes you need a buffer at the beginning of a long effects chain to prevent the effects from sucking your tone. Sometimes you need an EQ at the beginning of your effects chain to act as an active equalization and/or pre-amp for a weak or “thin” signal. Usually, you need both.
A buffer is particularly useful when you have a combination of pedals from different manufacturers and vintage pedals with poor buffering like classic wahs, etc.
The Knockout might even work this way if you could just add an internal buffered/true bypass switch like with the Soul Food.
