I got my hands on some Russian EHX gear this week! I got a new Big Muff, new Small Stone and an old Bassballs.
The Big Muff sounds great! I can see what everyone was saying about the boominess. It definitely has a dark, mean sound. It also has a pretty good tonal range.
The Small Stone is simply AMAZING!!! It has such a long sweep. The color switch makes it more versatile than a Phase 90, and it just plain sounds better. I have been able to leave this one alone. It has inspired me to write some pretty cool stuff…even in a short amount of time.
The Bassballs…all I can say is COOL! It is extremely touch sensitive and reactive. I don’t have much use for one of these, but it is fun to noodle around with. The distortion switch adds some real depth to it as well. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about this model, so if anyone can tell me what years this one was produced, I would appreciate it.***The wooden box that came with this is too cool! May sound cheesy, but I dig it.***
I also got a Small Clone. It is hands down the best Chorus I have used…which hasn’t been many, but it still rocks. I couldn’t help throwing some Nirvana into my little bedroom routine.
So that’s what I got this week. It has kept me pretty busy. I won’t be getting anymore pedals until after the holidays.
that’s awesome! and its definitely going to keep you busy for a while, getting some really amazing sounds with all of those pedals.
wow, four big muffs!
nice…. they look kinda cool together like that… I predict those will be a really good investment too. :thumb:
To be honest, I bought them now because the Big Muff was discontinued. I heard it was a good pedal, but not amazing. I didn’t want to pay $200 in a few years when I got around to trying one.
That being said, I am not surprised that I love it. I have yet to be disappointed by anything I have owned from EHX.
