Hi guys, what is the difference between the Q-Tron Plus and the Enigma? is this last the succesor of the Q-tron? which is more versatile?
THANKS A LOT

Also, the Enigma has a built-in distortion, and the Q-tron+ does not.
One advantage that the Q-tron+ has is a built-in effects loop that allows you to add an effect in parallel that isn’t filtered, and then combine the 2 signals into a single output.
The Enigma, however, does have a dry out, so you could essentially accomplish the same thing if you can remix the 2 signals later in the chain.
IIRC, both units are designed by Mike Beigel, the same engineer who designed for Mu-Tron. Both are excellent env filters.

both units seems very similar,I don’t know why,but I feel the Q-tron+ a little bit more funky-ready,are you agree?
my need is a great funky machine, for every gig,I was thinking to the Bass MicroSynth too,but maybe they are’nt so similar.give me your suggestion
thanks again

This way, the filtered signal will not be heard in the echo repeats, only the dry signal. So now you have 2 signals, one with a filter, and one with an unfiltered echo.
You could now:
1. Run each signal to different amps and have a stereo set-up
2. Run each signal into an amp that has 2 inputs, and mix them in the amp
3. Run each signal into a mixer, like a BOSS LS-2, or an EHX Mini Mixer
4. Run each signal into a pedal that has stereo inputs, like the EHX CathedralQuote:I feel the Q-tron+ a little bit more funky-ready,are you agree?
my need is a great funky machine, for every gig,I was thinking to the Bass MicroSynth too,but maybe they are’nt so similar. The Bass MicroSynth is an entirely different kind of filter from either the Qtron or the Enigma. You can definitely do some funky sounds with it, but the filters rise or fall in a linear direction, they don’t rise and fall in a curve. I tend to use the Bass Microsynth to get more Techno or Electronic bass sounds, like an old MOOG.
Between the Qtron+ and the Enigma, I think that both are equally excellent for Funk. I would consider:
1) do you want the effect loop built-in to the pedal?
2) or do you want distortion built-in to the pedal, and continuous adjustment over parameters like decay, attack, and the start and stop of the sweep?May 16, 2010 at 3:08 pm #102503LOOPMANMemberFender&EHX4ever;,your support is incredible!all my congratulations!!
well, with my Fender bass,I have this pedal fx chain: Digitech Timebeder, that is a stereo delay, the EHX Cathedral, the EHX Flanger Hoax,Boss stereo bass-chorus,then to 2 COMBO AMPS(Markbass CMD 121H).
I have to place the Q-Tron+ or the Enigma in this kind of chain, also, during these days I’m planning to purchase a pedal preamp with the distortion bulit-in,this pedal will be add to the chain.
Honestly,I don’t know If will be useful for me the control of the various paramenters by the exp pedal, during the live, since I haven’t expereince about this.
anyway, considered the chain that I have and what I said too, what is your opinion about?it’s important for methank you very very very much
