Hi everybody,
After long time seeking, I’ve got now home a vintage Deluxe Memory Man. Is the blue one, here are some pics of the (4 knob) model:
I’ve got one big problem: It seems that the “Level” knob controls the overall volume of my set instead of controlling only the pedal volume. I mean, if I turn the “Level” knob down, the overall volume turns down, even if the Deluxe Memory Man is switched off.
And the volume of the effect when its ON is always lower than the overall volume. So the “Level” knob is like a master volume of my overall sound and it’s impossible to use the effect it that conditions, there’s no way of controlling its volume and more over, modifies my final volume, so it`s very disappointing.
The former owner of the pedal told me it’s normal in EH Vintage Memory Man models, is it??
The other question is about a more concrete dating of the pedal. I think it’s 1979. Is that correct
Thanks a lot
Best wishes from Spain

Some players (myself included) like to use it to drive our signal a lil hotter, even when the DMM is bypassed. This why I don’t like the true bypass on the newer XO version.
You could always put it in an effects loop (Boss Line Selector, or Radial Big Shot EFX), leave the unit on and use the fx loop to switch it in and out of your signal. This way you can also use a LPB-1 in the same loop to bring your delayed signal more in line with your dry signal.
I don’t know much about finding the date of the unit. The EH Man (on this forum) is usually pretty helpful in that regard.
Hope that helps,

The bypass signal is actually taken off the first op-amp stage, which is why the Level control works when the pedal is on or off.
There is a Gain trimpot inside which can be adjusted to boost the effect signal. Don’t touch them w/o knowing which one it is.January 23, 2011 at 1:45 am #113954TheGhostMachinaMemberThx Ron, I stand corrected;)

After a time using it, I found the proper way to use it and has an awesome sound, really hot and sweet.

Any help with which pot I need to tweak?
Thanks!
