    Hi all,

I’ve got an Electro Harmonix 45000 hooked via midi to a Selah Quartz master clock. I’m attempting to record in external clock mode, and quantize mode but I can’t start a loop if I have ext clock selected. I can record perfectly in quantize mode (which uses the internal tempo), but I can’t use my Selah Quartz to control the tempo without being in ext clock mode.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

The 45000 requires a MIDI Start message to be sent from the MIDI Clock master before it begins recording. Most likely the Selah Quartz device is not sending this MIDI Start message.

You could try recording a silent loop of however many bars you need–with Quantize enabled but EXT CLK disabled. Then enable EXT CLK, make sure the Selah is sending MIDI Clock and press PLAY then RECORD on the 45000 to record your loop. We don’t have a unit at home to check this on but this might work.
