    Hi.

    Has anyone on here ever replaced the CF card reader on the 2880 with a SD card reader? Would it be feasible?

    Replaced, no. Used a CF card to SD card adapter, that looks more feasible. You would want to make sure the SD card is under 2GB though, due to how the 2880 handles data.

    Ok that sounds a lot easier. You’ve used an adapter with the 2880 and not had any glitching issues (blinking lights and all the rest) then?

    I haven’t, no, I found a rather good deal on a bulk lot of CF cards on ebay shortly after purchasing mine so I haven’t had to worry, but CF, SD, and microSD all use rather similar pin-outs; I haven’t heard of any glitching due to adapters.

    I’ve just ordered one, so I’ll post my results here. There’s a real lack of concrete info about it seemingly anywhere on the net. If anyone wants to chime in feel free!

    Btw can you tell me what brand/model cf cards have worked for you? There’s a real lack of info on that topic too. So far I’ve tried:

    Ehx generic (came with 2880) – works
    Dick Smith 2gb – fails
    Akai 128mb – fails

    The generic hong kong-ese cards I have are 50/50 for works or not (I resold the ones that didn’t work for it) [128mb]
    The viking cards I’ve picked up work well [512mb]
    The ehx generic works fine [1G]
    and the kingston 2gb I had from a camera that has since broken didn’t work – it glitched, although not in a usuable way.

    Cool, I might hunt out some Viking brand if the adapter doesn’t work out.
