Hi there, I have just purchased a 2880 looper and have a question about foot switches. Can i plug any sustain type pedal that sends a signal to the 2880 to start/stop loops and record etc? I have an old behringer footswitch that has worked on other devices including Ableton’s APC40. But for some reason it wont work with the 2880. Is there specific foot controllers other than the discontinued ehx one? Does it require midi? I really just want a 2 stomp foot controller to play/stop and record… the rest i do by hand. Any suggestions? How can I make this happen?
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Shāun

Please anyone help with this… Lots of views – no input?
I just want to be able to control my 2880 looper with something similar to the discontinued foot controller. Even just a 2/3 stomp footswitch.. does it need to go through the midi input or can i just use anything through the footswitch input.. The one i tried does not work. Is there anything I need to set up before hand. Any midi editing software or anything?
Please Help
May 28, 2013 at 5:34 pm #119110jnraineMemberHey Shaun,
I believe the footswitch jack expects a serial device on other end — nothing as straightforward as a sustain pedal or AUX footswitch like the Jamman Solo allows. As far as I know, there are no third-party footswitches that use the 2880 footswitch jack. This means you’d need to find a MIDI footswitch pedal (like this: http://www.disasterareaamps.com/shop/dmc-2) that can send CCs/PCs that the 2880 responds to. This gets expensive quick. :gulp:
I hope this helps!

Do you know if the hog controller works with the 2880?
May 28, 2013 at 11:05 pm #119113jnraineMemberSorry, I couldn’t say. Apparently they use the same board (http://tinyurl.com/qez66wq) , but I’d be surprised if they behaved the same.

I hope he is right because I just bought one on ebay…I have seen those midi pedals you suggested. but too expensive for simple task of midi. Thanks though
I’ll let you know how i get on

I use a Yamaha MFC with my 2880, and it works perfectly.
It is much more powerfull than the EHX foot controller for the 2880, because of the 2880 midi implementation, and less expensive. You can buy one used for 100€ in Europe (100$ in US?)Marc – France
