Some 2880 observations I came across:
[strong]#1 CF-CARDS[/strong]
Despite the stated limits w.r.t. CF card size (128MB-2GB, 40x speed or higher recommended),
the 2880 seems to eat almost(*) anything that I threw at the 2880.
Tried a Canon 32MB card with unspecified speed (most likely ‘standard’, so < 40x),
and also a 256 MB Dane-Elec (again assuming standard speed) and both played all tracks fine (4 mono + 1 stereo).
Only thing I can think of is that recording a stereo track while replaying 2 others plus the main mix will be tougher (CF-writing is slower than reading),
otherwise the 2880 seems pretty forgiving.
(*: unfortunately some 1GB Transcend HighSpeed cards gave problems)

#2 BUG ?[/strong]
The effect of the PAN controls seems to get lost for lower headphone settings:
sounds moves towards the centre.
More curious to the ‘why’ of this than that it’s actually a problem.
“The Headphones Volume knob is an analog knob after the D/A Converter”,
so it’d actually be pretty difficult to implement this, had it been desired functionality…
I should check what happens at the main outs, I don’t recall if the Headphones Volume knob controls these as well.
Please share any relevant 2880 stuff as well. Nice machine, and still doing fine. Let’s keep it going!
Bye
