Thanks for the suggestion.
I changed out the transistors which were BC239 with 2N4401 (2N5088 sub) noting the pin out is opposite.
Change the electro cap with the same value as what was there, 33uf not 47 like the diagrams suggest, probably just changes the delay.
Still NO FUZZ, just volume control using the pot.
What is left are the 2 ceramic caps.
2 diodes and resistors.
Any suggestions as to what might be the problem will be appreciated.
The transistors I used were “old”. Got a bunch of ECG199…
Again I am far from being an electrical person, just the solder guy….
Thanks
Paul
You can’t just replace stuff and hope for the best, well you can, but as you just learned it doesn’t necessarily fix things, leads to frustration plus damages the resale value. You can take out the guess work by debugging it.
You need a multimeter (a cheap digital one off ebay or wherever will be fine) and to take voltages of the transistors, even if you’re just a solder guy it’ll be an invaluable tool, is easy to learn/use and allows others to suggest appropriate repair advice because without any information, your guess is as good as mine.
