Just got my hands on an old mistress! I only had a second to try it (works and sounds great!) before having to come back to work. I will post pics tonight.
March 22, 2010 at 9:25 pm #108724ToonsterMemberI have one too, just for a few weeks now, really great pedal. In Filter Matrix mode its very cool with a big muff.. For the rest very warm sounding, but can be very sharp too:)
March 23, 2010 at 1:15 am #108728firesgt911MemberHere she is!
It was a little difficult to see, but the pot said 137 76. I figured since it had the side mount pots like my V3 BM, it had to be from around that time(77’ish). Anyways, it plays like a dream. I need to play with it a lot more to get used to it. Flangers always take me a while to dial in for some reason.

April 2, 2010 at 9:27 pm #108998firesgt911MemberMy mistress is in need of a a little work. The previous owner butchered the battery cables so they are less than reliable. Still works, but not ready for normal abuse. When I get the time, I’m going to have to send it and my old DOD OD/preamp 250 to Mr. Neely for a tune up…providing he has the time too.
June 17, 2010 at 4:12 pm #109551marcoMemberHELLO,
I FINALLY A 18 VOLT ADAPTOR FOR MY E-MISTRESS!
Please:
1) can someone confirm me the centre tip is positive?
2) is there a simply way to test the polarity of the power supply (without using the mistress of course!) I’ve a simple standard tester, nothing more, and poor esperience…
Thanks a lot for any kinfd suggestion, best regards.

June 18, 2010 at 7:04 pm #109585KitraeMemberCograts. The old greeny Mistress is the best. I have the Deluxe as well, but I really like the old 18v Mistress. I use a Barge VB jr. mixer with mine so I can mix it in with my clean or distorted signal from my Muffs. I usually keep it about 50% in the mix.

Centre TIP is positive, everything OK wirh the adaptor!
The mistress now is running ok, with the normal side effects: little volume drop, some hiss (?) noise, but as I’m a basic player, no great problem. When I record with a PC I try to optimise effect chain with just the pedal needed and dedicated power supply, no amp. The sound will be not so giant, but is quite pur and noiseless.
Thanks to this forum, very usefull.Marco
July 20, 2010 at 6:21 pm #110371jfloydMemberHi Gents…
Newbie here too. I’m also the proud owner of a “green” 18 volt EM, that I purchased directly from Howard Davis himself last fall. He’d modded it to fix the volume drop, cleaned and repainted it and even lacquered the case. It’s beautiful and sounds even better than the one I bought in 1978, that fell completely apart in 1983 or so from my abuse of it. If I’d only known!! I also had an LPB1 somehwere around 1972-3, and an early generation Small Stone also.
As for my EM…I’m also having trouble finding the correct adapter, 18 volt, 3.5 mm pin, positive tip. I see that Marco found one a month or so ago and wondered if that suppier is someone I could reach online, or if anyone else knows where I could find one via the web. I’ve searched but had no luck yet.
Thanks for whatever help anyone can provide…

HI, I’ve bought on ebay a PCIOKS Baby Power supply with 9->18V converter cable, but there are other 18v good product (dunlop, EH, powerbrick…) maybe you have to adapt the jack. I think a good generic but stabilazed (?) power supply will be fine and cost much less.
I’ve the EH old small stone too, GREAT! and also russian version, great too!
ciao!
MJuly 21, 2010 at 6:12 pm #110400jfloydMemberThanks Marco…
I think I’m in business. I have an 18 volt DC adapter with a barrel center-negative plug. And I have a converter to go from the barrel to a 3.5mm mini-RCA. I checked the polarity and confirmed that the barrel to 3.5 adapter sends positive to the tip of the 3.5 plug.
So all I have left to do is cross my fingers and plug it in.
thanks again,
Floyd…October 9, 2010 at 12:19 am #111869WatsonWoodMemberSounds like you guys have got clean Green Mistresses. The one I am about to refurbish (for the second time since I’ve had it) looks as if it suffered a small explosion…but still works when all the parts are held together. I just sold my vintage DEM having decided I prefer the Green Mistress. It makes really warm, cool sounds and has slightly less twang in Matrix Mode than the DEM.
