So I purchased a 16 Second Digital Delay on Ebay, and so far I am not disappointed. I love EHX pedals with sliders, and this one is a doozy. Being able to change the tempo without pitch is great – I don’t have another delay that will do that, including my EHX 45000, which isn’t a delay but is the supposed successor to this pedal.
Which leads me to a question – the 45000 is assuredly not a successor to this pedal, unless you count the looping features, and even with the looping, there are features the 45000 does not have – modulation, tempo change without pitch, etc. So why was the 16SSDD discontinued? I can’t speak for the 2880, as I haven’t owned one.
I thought all the 16SSDD reissues came in wooden boxes, but mine came in a cardboard box. Not a deal breaker by any means. Does that mean it’s one of the latter reissues?
If it is one of the latter reissues, it does not appear to have the 4 sec count-in mod, which I thought was included on the latter ones. Once again, not a deal breaker, as I like the 4 sec count-in. I supposed the ability to disable it might be handy, but I’m not sure I want to bother to send it in, assuming that EHX still does the mod.
So, reissue this thing already. Or better yet, reissue the original one – let me know when it’s out! Even the reissue is a really cool pedal, that should keep me busy for awhile.
