that just about explains all the symptoms. the phantom switch doesn’t cause the light to illuminate, and i don’t get any sound from the unit with an otherwise working rode ntk or shure sm57. is this an obvious fix?
the unit powers on fine, the blue light on the front lights up
Have you tried it with a mic that doesn’t require phantom power? Does it pass signal when you do?
yep the rode ntk is a valve condenser, it’ll pass signal straight into studio monitors and my interface but not through the preamp. same deal with the sm57
…what?
Not what I asked.
Try running the preamp with the phantom power off and the 57 hooked up.
sorry, i didnt elaborate enough. thank you for the replies though
the rode ntk doesn’t require phantom power… it’ll send signal to my interface and also directly into speakers
the sm57 will do the same, sends readable signal to my interface and audible signal directly into my speakers (although very quiet of course)
neither of them work when the preamp is incorporated, both with phantom power enabled and disabled
