Electro-Harmonix is proud to present the new Lizard King, a bass-centric update to the popular Lizard Queen Octave Fuzz. Released in 2023, the EHX Lizard Queen was born out of JHS Pedals’ Josh Scott and Graphic Artist Daniel Danger’s love and admiration for 1970s Electro-Harmonix design. The original has a gnarly octave fuzz tone that musically interacts with your dynamics and features a blendable octave sound. Electro-Harmonix took this sound and has expanded and optimized the circuit with the bass player in mind.

The EHX Lizard King is a fixed-gain fuzz that is dynamically responsive. Adjustments to your instruments volume affects the amount of fuzz. Lower instrument volumes create a clear, fuzzy overdrive, while full instrument volume sends the gain over the top for ripping riff and searing solo tones. The familiar VOLUME and OCTAVE knobs control overall output and octave blend volume respectively. New to the Lizard King, the BLEND knob sets the mix between your clean and fuzz tones to create the perfect balance of fuzz while retaining your bass’s attack and low-end. The TONE knob is a low pass filter that rolls off the highs, while the SUN/SHADOW switch further enhances the tone of the octave fuzz and clean tones. SUN boosts the octave fuzz with a more driving midrange, and the clean tone accessed by the BLEND knob has more treble and bass frequencies. When the switch is set to SHADOW, the clean tone is unchanged, and fuzz tone is tighter.

The EHX Lizard King features True Bypass switching, can be powered by a standard 9V power adapter and comes equipped with a 9 volt battery. The pedal will be available in JULY 2024 and have a U.S. Street Price of $129.00.

Using Big Muff Hardware plugin with Ableton Live 11 Suite.

Drivers installed, plugin is showing on the track. I follow directions: from the hamburger menu, choose “Select Device”, Device Serial Number, Audio. Nothing happens and the Status light in the plugin does not light up to green (it stays grey). The plugin shows I’m on software version 1.0.70 and confirms that is the latest available version.

The pedal status light is green.

Any help on what I am missing? Thanks!

You should consider an external non-latching footswitch plug for bringing the harmonies in and out during verse vs chorus uses.
Even some choruses move from solo to harmony
having to push the current footswitch design (latching) means I’m getting a great workout for a 3-4 hour acoustic set!
Feel free to reach out via email or cell 832-726-2759.

    Thanks for considering this!

Its a bit ironic; I got the Attack Delay because I wanted to shape the asdr envelope to sound more like an electric guitar.
When it is triggering and with the fuzz it sounds great. Would putting a compressor or bit crusher in front of it help?

As far as my mic goes, I’m using a high impedance harmonica mic that I cup in my hands.

Actually, any suggestions you have, perhaps involving other EHX pedals, on how I could add / remove / transform harmonics and timbre of my harmonica to sound like an electric guitar would be great.

    Thank you,

    Hi Dominico
The input trigger using an audio input with a harp is a tricky thing. For a trigger to work it needs a new signal to trigger the envelope. Harp may slur across notes and be less percussive than a pick hitting a guitar string. Also are you moving the mic or is it mounted to the frame of the harp. That could change levels.
    Just ideas…

I have the sensitivey set all the way up, however some notes it simply doesn’t trigger.

This pedal (fuzz and envelope) sound absolutely fantastice when I’m playing, but about 1 out every 10 notes or so it doesn’t trigger, which causes effectively dead space in my playing.

I know all these pedals were meant for guitar; but I play a lot of harmonica, often tracking guitar solos; and I’d love advice on how to ensure that the envelope is always triggered. I’m wondering if its an input signal gain thing, or something else going on.

Yes it does.It overdrives great at max volume.
Keep in mind it is more bedroom/backstage volume being just 5 watts.

    Hi,

I’m using Windows to update the 1440 from 0.57 to 0.62 and the looper freezes on BOOT while the 1440 app freezes when the update is complete. Turning it off/on still shows 0.57. I notice there was a work around for Mac, is there anything for Windows?

Hello guys, so my girlfriend bought me the Hot Wax pedal for my birthday but she bought it on April, my birthday is on may 2nd that’s when I got it. My pedal stopped working 2 days ago, one of the circuits doesn’t power on anymore. She told me she didn’t tell me when she purchased it so I registered it the day it broke because it hasn’t been 10 days to try and file for a repair, but she just told me she purchased it on April. I I was going through the warranty guide book and it says to register with 10 days after purchase. I was wondering if I’ll still be able to get it fixed. It hasn’t been a year since purchased, but it wasn’t registered within 10 days. Has anyone else dealt with this before? Any idea of what might happen? I emailed support but haven’t heard back from them. Thank you!

Before unsoldering anything, I’d first check the contacts of the input jacks for the expression pedals.
It could be that they’re corroded or not making good contact when unplugging the expression pedal.

    hi all
i bought this amazing pedal, but the owner did a mod on it to use 3 expressions pedals, the pedal works fine but sometimes the feedback knob stop working.
it’s possible to just unsolder the cables to get it original?

    thanks in advance

Hi everyone, new to this site as of just now. Started to add a few EH pedals to my collection lately and my most recent acquisition is a 1978 The Silencer line noise eliminator. It has been re-worked somewhat and components replaced and looking at the circuit I’m sure they’re not correct . I have an FET replaced where I think a small NPN signal transistor (2n340)(?) should be and various caps of incorrect value as well as input and output jacks disconnected including the power jack. Anyone point me in the direction of a schematic or a photo of the correct components? The only one I found with Google is a two OP amp version using an FET between the two 8 dip chips whereas mine uses a single 14dip LM324N. Any help much appreciated…???

Or you could go all out Hendrix and make it a 3-in-1 pedal with Octave fuzz, Fuzz Face and TS/Glove 🙂

    Hey!

Would love to see EHX come out with a great Fuzz Face circuit, such as a vintage Dallas Arbiter or Diaz-style Fuzz Face circuit. Maybe put a Big Muff style tone stack (with a on/off-switch) on it to make it more tweakable and to avoid it getting too muddy?

Or maybe even do a 2-in-1 pedal with a great sounding Fuzz Face + a TS-style circuit or Glove/Spruce Goose to give the fuzz a mid boost or give it a fuzz into Marshall sound. There are a lot of good options out there today but the prices are crazy considering the relatively simple circuits. I think if you produced a pedal such as this at a fair price you’d dominate the market and people who loves Jimi Hendrix/SRV-style tones would all get one.

    Tone inspiration:
Vintage Dallas Arbiter, Diaz, King Tone, Isle of Tone, Pedal Pawn

    Name suggestions:
    The Blues Lawyer
    Texas Orbiter
    Spicy Grits
