My apologies, I made a mistake. The minimum Mac OS is 10.15 for the EHX1440 app. The app does not support 10.14. I just confirmed with our head developer.
Thanks for refply, Flick. The download of Loop Manager does not work on Mojave 10.14.16
– the download has the circle as a “no” and when putting it on my Applications folder and doubleclicking the icon I get the message “You cant use this version of the application”1440 Loop Manger” with this version of macOS. The application requires macOS 10.15 or later”
Also. I have updated the firmware to 0.62. Still the same problem sometimes with the loops. Not sure if I need to do something different…

I agree, hopefully reverb will be receptive and supportive when I tell them all this and I’ll get my money back. I’ll keep you posted even though I understand there is not much EHX can do in a situation like this.

Indeed the pedal looks worn from repeated use, the seller claims they are an EHX dealer but I checked online and they don’t come up under “Dealer Locator” on the website, and although they claim the warranty is guaranteed I doubt this is true for a used product.

Funny thing is, if you look up this address on Google (and look the actual picture) it is not a store it’s just a plain home in a residential area. So, for all I know, I might be dealing with someone selling used equipment from his mama’s basement.
As far as the YouTube video with the different settings, thanks for finding this, it shows exactly what I said: With the gain knob past halfway the unit on YT starts distorting gracefully with a pleasant sound all the way to 100%.
Mine starts distorting too much after 60% and is basically unusable if you turn it all the way up.

It’s hard to tell from the photos, in my opinion the pedal, being manufactured back in 2021 was a used item they just decided to sell it as “mint” and they even advertised it as a “new unit”, which is definitely not.
I have nothing to compare this unit to, but with the gain turned up more than 50-60% it becomes unusable. I’m hoping more people will chime in and let me know of their experience.
My main concern right now is if EHX will honor the warranty IF I need to send the pedal in for inspections/repair, given that it is clearly a second hand unit.

I would send it back and ask for a different pedal or a refund.
If they are not a real EHX dealer there may be no warranty.

Are those photos from the actual unit you’re reporting about? The indicators on the knobs seem pretty normal to me, they aren’t perfect but I’ve had newly bought ehx pedals with those little inconsistencies in the finish/knob indicators, seems pretty normal to me. The marks on the side are clearly from mechanic abrasion, tightening that input because it got loose or something like that. Might happen sooner than expected also, doesn’t necessarily mean the pedal was ‘abused’. It was well used but certainly doesn’t look like it was kicked around.
I’d say the gain thing is also the way it’s supposed to be. Do you have something to compare it to? Try searching on youtube for some video review and see if they explore the setting enough for you to compare to your experience and see if the pedal is actually defective or if that’s normal operation.

I’ve never seen the indicator lines worn off a knob. I’d send it back for a full refund. Better to spend a bit more and know what you’re getting.
Hello, this is about a 15 W Howitzer Power Amp I recently purchased.
It was advertised as “mint” on Reverb but the pictures did not show if the power supply was included. I contacted the seller and he told me that the P/S will be included and stressed that was a “new item” at a great price so I purchased it. It cost me $111 (plus my local tax) which was actually one of the lowest prices available plus s&h was free. When the item came, it became obvious that “mint” can mean a lot of things, but the most important issue I have with it is that the white indicator lines on the pot buttons were washed off/faded out, obviously from what appeared to be heavy prior use. There were also a couple of oily(?) fingerprints on the pedal itself and the box it came in was the original but clearly opened, used and abused, the edges were worn and tatty, one med-sized cut/hole on the box top, the inside paperwork unpacked and refolded, the p/s cables held together with old, frayed wire twists, you get the picture. Now the important thing for me is that it did not have any dents, scratches or fall markings on the pedal itself and electronically appears to be working as expected. However, the GAIN button is only usable up to 50-60%. More than that it introduces a lot of hiss/noise. I’m not sure if this is “normal” or an indication that the pedal has been …electronically, abused? There are also indications that the pedal has been opened (and reclosed) as the in/out jacks are not positioned in their original place and there are obvious markings around the washers.
My question is to EHX (if they read this note) and all those familiar with EHX products: How long should it really take of continuous use for the white indicator lines on the pot buttons to washed off and become faded-out? Everything else points to the seller misrepresenting the condition of the pedals but when I confronted him about it he told me (and I quote): “it is super common that [the fading] to all of the EHX white level lines are not consistent”. Obviously I agree. So before I file a complain for this seller on Reverb I’d like to ask those of you who have experience with EHX, do you agree with that. In my opinion, for the pot lines to start fading, one would have to use the pedal heavily and for a long time.
Finally, I immediately registered the pedal but will EHX honor the warranty should I need service when it’s obvious the pedal condition was misrepresented as “new” when it wasn’t.

Hi, can a 120v US pedal be used in the UK (240v) simply by changing the plug or do I need to replace the transformer?
Hello there 🙂 I will start by replacing the big can metal capacitor 3x1500uf that is in parallel so 4500uf will be ok if I find one, or else 3×1500 new capacitors in parallel.
The question is (looking at the schematic) Why back then they put 60v capacitor when the output from the transformer was / is 60v? This sounds like “in Limit’? It was a reason? Should I replace it with 100v one for more safety?

Please try updating the 1440’s firmware to 0.62 which should be available through the 1440 app.
I ran into this problem more than a few times. I export loops into the EHX, then at some point instead of the loop, a noise comes out, like a clicking buzzing as if someone recorded a very short loop with hum. The loops are gone. I got a new Pedal, sdoftware version 0.60, loops uploaded via Mac. PS: is there a version of the Apps that works on Mojave?

Hey there! I know this is a very old post, but I’ve recently bought a EHX Mic Pre and I’ve found myself with the same “problem” you describe. It’s not a problem per se. It happens that both outputs of this pedal are balanced. The hum noise appears when you you use the balanced 1/4” output and plug into an unbalanced 1/4” input. To eliminate that hum, you have to use a balanced cable (stereo jacks on both ends) and go into a balanced input.
Now, I want to process my voice using a lot of effects pedals (all of them use unbalanced inputs/outputs). The microphone goes directly to the EHX Mic Pre, and I cannot go from there directly to another effect pedal (because of the hum noise). To achieve this without noise, I have to take the balanced out from the Mic Pre and go into a compressor (or a mixer with balanced inputs). In my case, I go into a DBX compressor, that has an unbalanced output. So I use that unbalanced output to go to the effects pedal. In this way, I don’t get any hum noise.
I’ve tried making my own cable TRS –> TS but it didn’t help, the hum noise is still there.
So far I’ve found that the only way to eliminate the hum is go from the Mic Pre to a balanced input on a mixer or whatever device that offers an unbalanced out.
