Hey!
New EHX Silencer user here. I’ve noticed that when I plug my strandberg with active fishman pickups into the Silencer – it produces a considerable amount of clipping. Is there a problem with my pedal, or is it just incompatible with my pickups?
I’ve attached the waveform. To the left – silencer is off (bypass), to the right – on.
Thanks!
I was going to say that you are exceeding the Silencer’s headroom but it’s interesting that it’s only clipping the top half of the waveform. If headroom was the problem it should clip both the top and bottom peaks of the waveform.
What are you powering the Silencer with?
Do you have a guitar with passive pickups to check the Silencer?
Precisely! For what it’s worth, I’ve also dialed all knobs to the right so it is maximum release, maximum threshold, and minimum reduction.
I’m powering it with 1-spot.
Unfortunately no, this is the only one that I have.
I have two other pedals (Ditto and EQD Plumes) and both seem to be handling well my guitar’s output without producing any clipping at all.
My guess is that there is something wrong with the Silencer. Can you exchange it for a new one?
Will do. Thanks for responses!
