Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › Terrible noise on EHX English Muff’n
Hi everybody,
After quite a long time, I’ve connected my English Muff’n to my pedalboard (wood, BTW). Unfortunately, when in Overdrive mode, it makes terrible buzz (in bypass mode – dead quiet). It’s not 50hz noise. I think it’s a ground loop, because when I wear my guitar and touch the pedal with my hand, the noise quietens.
But I couldn’t find any way to quieten it down. I’ve tried changing the power supply, and I tried connecting it alone (w/o the pedalboard) directly to my amp. I also tried different cables, with no effect at all. I’ve checked the tubes for microphonics – it’s not the problem. Whatever I do, there is terrible noise if I don’t touch the pedal, and it sounds good if I do touch it (if I play w/o touching the pedal, I get terrible crackling). However I can’t of course play and thouch the pedal at the same time!
Any advice would be welcome.
Are you using the EHX supply?
And are the pedals and the amp plugged into the same ac source?
Tried both the EHX supply and a Cioks AC10. Same results. Also tried plugging the amp and pedal into the same source and into a different source – no difference.
Well may be best to contact service and ask them
sorry!
