As the title says, I’m in the market (as everyone here is) for a new pedal. I’ve been humming and hawing about either a fuzz or chorus/mod pedal. My pedal chain is as follows:

15 ft Ernie ball cable into

Boss TU2 > Boss NS2 (send) > Keeley compressor plus > Fender Pugilist Distortion > Boss NS 2 (return) > Walrus Audio Arp 87 > EHX Oceans 11 > Boss RC 3 loop station

Followed by a 10 ft Ernie ball cable

I only have 3 true bypass pedals (Fender, Walrus, Keeley) and the rest are buffered. My concern would be too many buffers, since the mod 11 is buffered bypass. For me, the positives for having the mod 11 would be the octave pitch down function (along with maybe a fuzz later down the road) and the chorus.

    Any thoughts?

There’s not really a thing as ‘too many buffers’ your signal doesn’t get over buffered.

True bypass is useful with specific pedals like vintage fuzzes that rely on direct guitar/pedal interaction but I can’t see anything in your chain that would meet that criteria and you already have a buffer first in chain (TU2) so the point is moot.

So if you like the pedal, go for it.

There’s plenty of articles on the topic if you’d like to learn more, here’s the first that came up http://www.roland.co.uk/blog/the-truth-about-true-bypass-and-buffered-guitar-pedals/
