Recently purchased a Bass Preacher and I’m a bit disappointed with the amount of hiss as well as an annoying ticking sound that it makes. The ticking occurs when either using a battery or power supply. Is the “ticking” sound normal for this compressor? It even sounds worse when I have to turn the gain up to make it match the output of the amp when not engaged. I’m not sure if I should contact support to exchange it.
Sounds like you using a daisy chain power supply. That can add the clicks.
Any compressor will bring up noise. that is is what a compressor does. Back down on the compression for less noise.
It makes the clicking even when running on batteries and with it being the only pedal. But with that I did find I guess is a solution. I moved the pedal board a little farther from my amp and it stopped. I’m using a Markbass Little Mark III. So now I think I’ve have the clicking under control, I know compressors will add some hiss, it’s just annoying because to me it’s a little excessive and I don’t like the EQ adjustments that I have to make to try to eliminate some of it.
