Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › Accidentally Plugged a 120V power supply to a 230V wall outlet
Hi,
I bought 3 EHX pedals from an authorized reseller in the US (Pitbull Audio) for a friend in Greece. The pedals are Cathedral, Pitch Fork, and Big Muff Pi. I forgot to consider the voltage rating difference in the US and Greece, so my friend plugged all 3 devices with their 120V adapters to a 230V outlet. They turned on for a moment then shut down. He then operated the Big Muff Pi on battery power and it was running just fine (does this mean it’s not damaged?) while he tried to plug in again both the Cathedral and Pitch Fork to the same outlets to no avail.
My first question is, do you think any of the devices or power supplies are damaged? Second, what should be the recommended action right now? Third, do you have power supplies for Greece available for purchase in the region? If not, would a power strip plugged into a voltage converter work as outlets for the pedals? Or should he buy a step-down transformer? Or can we use universal power supplies?
Any insight/recommendation is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ivanah
