just grabbed a MEL9 and am running the dry out into my amp and the effect direct into an old peavey xr-600 powered mixer. it is plugged direct into channel 4’s 1/4″ input jack, no direct box used.

the problem im having is that when it is hooked up this way, the mic’s and drum loop that are plugged into channels 1-3 on the PA are bleeding through into the bass amp.

i also tried to split the signal with an A/B/Y box prior to the MEL9 sending A to the amp and B to the MEL9 then out through the MEL9 effect jack direct to channel 4 of the PA and had a similar result.

and just to be clear about the bleed through, i can hear the vocals and the drum loop playing through my amps speaker.

any help would be great, thanks!

Your pa signal is coming back down the mel9 dry out line and into your amp???
I am sorry I dont understand.
    That should be impossible

that is exactly what is happening. and agreed, it should be impossible! the PA signal is somehow being fed back through the MEL9 and sending to my amp.

i have never seen anything like this?

    Yikes something is odd!!!
You may want to write Peavey and ask them..
I dont get it unless its some weird ground loop or something.

i agree on the ground loop. i havent been able to figure it out tho. i took my pedal board out of the equation and changed all cables but have not switched out the power conditioner. (amp, PA, and MEL9 all plugged into same conditioner).

I have a question you referred to “bass amp” is that what you’re playing through? And is your instrument a bass or a guitar?

Are the quarter-inch input jacks on the PA TRS or just TS?

1/4″ jacks on the PA are unbalanced.

Last question, “is there reverb or an effects loop in this PA head?” If so turn off the reverb and shunt the effects loop if it has one. And I mean turn off the reverb/effects control in each channel and on the Masters. And then try it and see if you have the same issue

there is reverb! each channel has its own level control as well as a master reverb control. i turned all channel reverb to zero as well as the master and no change.

and there is not an effects loop, there is just an effect send 1/4″ jack, no return.

Since there is no Jack set up as return, is there one that says “power amp in”? If that’s the case plug in a guitar chord into the effects send and just leave it loose on the other end, not plugged into anything all. And if you have the same problem still, I give up.
