This is my board with EHX pedals. The Cry Baby Mini sounds great with the Soul Food, in case you’re wondering.
But I may not be doing this right. Currently, the Soul Food is in true bypass mode and feeds into the Muff. Before I got the Muff, I preferred he Soul Food with the buffer on. But the buffered signal doesn’t sound as good going into the Muff.
I’m contemplating switching the order, and going back to the buffered mode. If anybody else has some experience with these two pedals together, please let me know your opinions and why you like it that way. Yes, I know I could just try all the combinations myself, but I really do want to hear from others too.
Thanks so much!

Not a very helpful response from EHX….this is NOT something that is up to for experiment.
You are buffering your signal with the Soul Food, which essentially corrects the increased capacitance caused by the distance your pickups, volume, tone, output jack and cable adds up to and has dumped a lot of your highend to ground along the way. Your Nano Muff and most other fuzz boxes especially with Germanium transistors hate a buffered signal. The same goes for a Wah. If you put your wah after your Soul Food and tested it buffered vs true bypass you would instantly know the effect buffering has.
So for your awesome little board you should turn the Soul Food back to True or run the Soul Food after the fuzz box.
Peace

I am running the Soul Food in true bypass in this pictured setup, so from your advise it appears I would be best to just leave everything as is. I never did get around to dismantling everything, been really busy!
And yes, for the record, the EH staff reply was flippant and completely unhelpful, and THE reason I haven’t been back to this forum since then.

When it comes down to sound EVERYTHING is up to experiment!
Have you watched the Effectology series??
With out experimenting and listing to what you thinks sounds perfect we all would sound the same.
The Nano Muff is NOT a vintage Fuzz like a Germanium transistor fuzz where your guitar is actually part of the circuit.
Wrong pedal. -
