Home › Forums › Vintage EHX › Early Doctor Q weak output in Bass mode and little effect
Hi All, this is my first post in the forum. I used the search function but didn’t find what I was looking for. I’ve got an early Dr. Q, original owner from the late ’70s – early ’80s that hasn’t been used in years. I can get some effect with the switch in the up position if I play with the trim and range controls. Volume is close to the bypassed level. When I switch the slide to the Bass mode, volume is cut drastically, tone is very bassy, and there is no effect. I see no obvious signs of component damage or broken wiring. Possibly that single 10u/16v cap could be suspect, considering its age, and the switches measure good…deoxited the slider anyway. Any ideas? pointers?
Thanks
Anyone have any thoughts on this? I now have this very pedal and want to avoid just replacing a part at a time.
I am trying to LEARN how to fix effects, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
