Hi guys,
I’ve got a new HOG 2 that I’m trying to integrate with my rig and I’ve run into a problem.
I want to use the MIDI Program Change data from my GT-100 to assign the HOG to whatever settings I need for each song as it switches between patches. I’ve set up my patches and it appears to be working just fine, but most of the time I actually need the HOG to be bypassed and it doesn’t appear to write the state of the pedal’s “Bypass” control into the patch.
When setting up the patch with my computer I call whatever patch I’d like the HOG to be set to with the relevant PC, then hit the Bypass switch (so the pedal is OFF) and send MIDI CC 117 with whatever value I need. The pedal stays off but when I then call the patch that I’ve just written (from the GT-100) it will switch back on again.
The GT-100 can’t send CC information on a patch change, only once a button is pressed, so I can’t use CC 85 to turn it off automatically.
Setting the pedal to a “Plain” preset and leaving it on the whole time ruins the guitar sound.
Any help would be much appreciated, I’m sure I’m missing something but I can’t work out what!
Ben
I’ve now resolved this with input from the guys at EHX themselves.
Apparently:
“Hello. That is how the pedal is designed and there is no workaround for this.
Regards,”
Without the ability to bypass the pedal I’m forced to either manually switch it on and off, or to keep it on continually.
My HOG 2 is now back in its box with the receipt and will be going back to the store on Monday.
