Hi guys.
I have a question regarding a Deluxe Memory Man pedal. I bought the unit second hand. The pedal has seen some action but nothing out of the norm. Some minor scratches, some paint chips, the usual stuff…
I use the DMM with bass (Rickenbacker 4003/Guild Starfire II, Ashdown perfect ten mini amp). I run my signal through some other pedals (Big Muff, Micro Q-Tron, some flangers, choruses and distortions (the DMM is at the end of the chain at the moments)). I have noticed that self oscillation starts exactly when the Feedback knob goes beyond 1 o’clock. Sometimes when i have minimum delay i can get a 2 o’clock but that is that. I don’t know if its normal, but it seems that if 2 o’clock is the limit, i cant use a 25% to 30% of that knob. Also when i run the depth knob beyond 12 o’clock on either chorus or vibrato mode, my repeated signal sounds way de-tuned. The more i go beyond 12 the heavier the detuning it gets. I mean the 2nd or the 3rd or the 4th repeats sound like someone plays a falseto. Is this a common phenomenon or it means someone messed up with the internal trim-pots (by the way i asked the original owner if that was the case and he said no).
Is there a template for where the internal trim-pots optimum position is? Can it be done by someone with a knack for electronics or it must be calibrated by EHX? Again if its normal to self oscillate beyond 2 and detune beyond 12 its ok… but i really have to know.
Thanks in advance.
